The person behind the question
I was taught to ride horses before I learned how to be with them.
In my words

Our perception of Life is not the same after an encounter with a horse.
Seeing the nature of horses, we see our own. And the curtain of separateness falls. We are part of Nature, and we are unique.
And suddenly, through this interconnection, something about ourselves becomes so obviously clear and deeply anchored in memory.
This is my personal experience. Try it yourself!
About me
I am Marzena, a nature-oriented human being, born in Gdańsk, Poland, in 1974.
I grew up about one kilometre from the Baltic Sea, and from childhood I felt deeply connected to my own nature. I have always valued friendship, loyalty, spontaneity and living in the moment. Even when I was very young, I could hear something I would later call my inner voice.
And there were horses.
Horses were always somewhere in my life, even though I was never allowed to have one. I went to the hippodrome whenever I could, sometimes against my parents' wishes. When I painted, I painted horses. I collected postcards with horses, cut pictures of horses out of newspapers and kept them in notebooks. I spent whatever little money I had on anything connected with them.
The horses were my life, even before I could have one.
I chose to study sport because it sounded like fun, and I eventually graduated with a double qualification in tourism and as a sports teacher. At that time I was already a mother, and after my marriage ended, I decided to start a new life in another country.
I moved to Germany, to Heidelberg, where I studied and worked, learned new languages, and raised my son. For around twelve years I worked as a fitness trainer, personal trainer and physiotherapy trainer, continually studying and developing my knowledge of the physical care of people.
From the outside, I had many things I could have considered enough. I earned good money, travelled with my son, had friends and built a life.
But something was missing.
I had the feeling that I was living only a small part of the potential I had brought into this world. I began asking myself: What is this potential? What is it that has not yet been expressed?
I didn't know the answer.
So I began asking other people how to distinguish the voice of the mind from the voice of the soul. During one workshop, I suddenly heard one word very strongly inside me:
Ibiza.
My mind knew Ibiza was not my plan. And somehow, that was exactly why I listened.
I followed the call. My son and I came to Ibiza with two mountain bikes. I wanted to connect with the roots of the island, with its land, with the earth beneath my feet. I wondered whether perhaps I would find here a place that felt like home in a deeper sense.
I have now been in Ibiza for fifteen years.
During these years, I have lived many different lives within one life. I have had adventures, encounters and experiences from so many different corners that I could make films or write books about them.
And through all of this, I kept returning to the same question:
What is my potential, really?
One of the biggest lessons I learned was how to say no — how to recognize what is mine and what is not, and to listen more carefully to myself.
And now, something feels different.
I believe that the Horse Presence project may be connected to that potential I have been searching for all these years.
I see the horse as a doorway — a doorway into something that can open much more deeply than simply our relationship with an animal.
At the moment, I am at the beginning of this journey, mostly carrying the idea myself and sharing it with friends, while bringing the project and this website into life.
But I don't believe I will be alone for long.
I feel very lucky to live in the place where I am now — in this beautiful, magical part of Ibiza. I feel that Ibiza has a powerful energy of its own, and that ideas born here from the heart can be given a special impulse to grow, evolve and perhaps become something much bigger than the person who first imagined them.
Maybe this is the potential I have been looking for.
Maybe this is the door that is opening now.
And maybe Horse Presence is the beginning of something that is not only about me, but something I am here to bring into the world.

Mission

Open, personal letter from the initiator of Horse Presence
I am the initiator of Horse Presence and the person responsible for the direction of Pilot 001. I bring the lived experience, the questions, the research practice and the vision.
I know the worth of horse presence. I know a horse's life is worthy before we give it a purpose. I know that being in the presence of a horse is something special.
And I think it matters that we remember this.
Because right now, we've built a world where the value of a horse is very often measured by what the horse can do for us: ride, compete, breed, work, perform. And when the horse cannot do those things, we too easily stop seeing the value that was there all along.
As a person who always yearned for the presence of horses and a facilitator of systemic work assisted with horses, I have my own experience.
But I do not want to build a project in which my opinion becomes the evidence.
My role is to ask the questions, create the conditions in which they can be explored, bring together people with different forms of knowledge, and remain willing to discover that the answer may be different from what I expected.
That is why Horse Presence asks rather than tells.
Marzena
