We believe that horses have a value beyond what they do for us, what we can learn from them, or what we can achieve with them. Perhaps simply being in their presence is meaningful enough to inspire a different relationship between humans, horses, and the living world.

But belief alone is not enough. We want to explore this possibility, learn from the experience, and share what we discover.

We want the Horse Presence model to be running in many places around the world: places where horses already live freely or semi-freely, and where the people who care for them have struggled to keep going, often depending on donors who have never seen the horses.

The model is simple. These places open to people, and people come to spend time in the presence of the horses. The value they find there sustains the place: the people who care for the horses, the vet, the dentist, the land. And whoever gives horses a safe and natural life can also make a living from it, because it is a great deal of work.

Our aim is that, in five years, the world no longer needs us. That these places sustain themselves, and that no one has to depend on donations any more, not even us.

Every donation gives Horse Presence more time and resources to care for the horses, try the model, share what we learn, and help it take root in other places.
